Import an Anki deck

Already learning with Anki? Bring your cards into Minki. The file stays on your device.

Drop your Anki file here

.apkg or .colpkg. Nothing is uploaded.

How to bring a deck across

  1. In Anki, export a deck as an .apkg file. Export a whole collection as a .colpkg file.
  2. Preview the file in this browser, including when you are offline. If the file picker is not there, import the file directly in Minki.
  3. Open Minki, go to My decks, choose Add deck (+), then Import deck, and select the same file.
  4. Read the card count and any notices, then choose Import cards.

What comes across

  • Basic cards, including reversed cards. A reversed card becomes its own card with the sides swapped.
  • Images, and audio when the file is MP3, WAV or Ogg. Playback depends on the device.
  • Subdecks become sections. Tags are kept.
  • A collection file with several decks becomes one Minki deck. The original decks become sections.

What is left out

  • Cloze deletions and image occlusion notes are skipped. The preview names them.
  • Fields Minki does not recognise are named and left out.
  • Anki review history, schedules and other card templates are not imported. Imported cards start as new cards in Minki.
  • SVG, video and other unsupported files are skipped.
