Import an Anki deck

  1. Export the deck from Anki as an .apkg file, or a whole collection as a .colpkg file. You can also download an existing .apkg file.
  2. In Minki, open My decks, choose Add deck (+), then Import deck.
  3. Select the file and read the preview. Check the card count and any notices about skipped content.
  4. Confirm the import to add the cards.

What comes across from Anki

Minki imports supported card content and media. Anki review history, schedules and templates are not imported.

Complex note types such as cloze deletions and image occlusion may not work as they do in Anki. Check the preview and a few imported cards before relying on the deck for study.

Import a Minki deck

Use the same Import deck option to open a .minki package or a supported Minki JSON deck. A .minki package can include images and audio; a JSON deck does not include the media files.

Export a deck

  1. Open the deck’s actions menu (…).
  2. If Export deck is available, open it and choose the .minki export to include media, or the .json option without media.
  3. Save the downloaded file somewhere you can find it again.

Exports do not include learning progress

A deck export saves card content. It does not back up a learner’s review history or progress. Use account sync to keep learning progress across devices.
